The Woodland Trust protects, restores and creates native woods and trees across the country. Their vision is “a world where woods and trees thrive for people and nature”. Trees and woods play a vital role in tackling the threats of climate change as well as having a big impact on our health and wellbeing. At High Point we wanted to get involved and do our bit to help tackle climate change.

Woodland Trust is currently giving away hundreds of thousands of trees to schools and communities. We took the opportunity to take part in this huge initiative to get millions more trees in the ground across the UK. You can find out more about the scheme here:

Last week, 120 saplings were planted in our forest school area at High Point Academy. Students from across different year groups worked incredibly hard to plant the saplings, taking great care and learning a great deal about how to plant and nurture trees too. We’re very proud of their achievement, they did a tremendous job!

Thank you to the Woodland Trust and their tree packs scheme for donating the saplings and providing students with this exciting opportunity. We’re looking forward to nurturing our trees and enjoying our wonderful Forest school area.
