Supporting Parent and Carer Mental Health

We’re supporting Stem’s Parent Mental Health day, which focuses on how parents and carers can cope with stress and anxiety whilst navigating their family through difficult times. Here at High Point Academy, we’re not just interested in the well being of the children attending our schools but also of their Parents/Carers.

We understand that parents can often overlook their own mental health as their focus tends to mostly be on their children’s mental wellbeing, especially when their child has special educational needs/disabilities.

Many things can affect your mental health, financial burdens, a family bereavement or a change in circumstances. Stress and anxiety that you feel as a parent can quickly affect the whole family, which is why we encourage parents and carers to communicate any concerns at home to their child’s school so that we can support your family through turbulent times.

Parent Mental Health Day #PMHD was set up in 2022 by Stem to raise awareness of parents/carers who may be struggling to parent under current societal pressures and adversity. It also aims to challenge the stigma attached to parents discussing their mental health and encourages open conversations amongst families about mental wellbeing and talk about how they can build resilience together.
